At work, my boss is Mike. But Mike really doesn't have much involvement with me. Instead, he's kind of put Jeanne in charge of me, unofficially. I adore Jeanne. She's the best boss I've ever had in my life. Today was Jeanne's last day in her current position. Her promotion came through and she's now going to be working at the other end of the floor. I'm really sad. I'm going to miss her a lot. I'm very happy for her, but sad for me. I'm hoping something will open up back on my end of the floor and she can come back. She's hopeful for that, too. I know if it happens, it won't be for quite a while. Congrats, Jeanne! You'll be sorely missed.

Normally, I would empathize with your loss of a friend and supervisor, because a good boss is a treasure beyond rubies and should be cherished in these days of beancounting and the conversion of the American workforce into nothing more than interchangeable cogs.

But you just called me old on your podcast, so suck it.

I meant "Bold", not old. Yeah, that's it.

Crap. :-)
