Song

Most mornings it seems that I wake up with a song in my head, and today was no different. Only today I don't know where the song came from. It's "Two Less Lonely People In The World" by Air Supply. Go figure.

Bang Bang

Busy Weekend

This whole weekend was GO GO GO GO GO. Now it's over and I'm sad.

Saturday I got up at 5:30 am to get ready for work. Saturday overtime is pretty good because no one is there. The office was FREEZING, which is odd because it's usually too warm. When I got home from work, Ken said he needs to run errands and would I like to go. I said yes. We went to apply for my passport, he had some returns to make, we stopped at a travel agent, went to lunch, bought cat food for Ollie and then home. Started laundry. I then went out for a walk, vegged out in front of the computer and then finally in bed with a stack of comics.

Today started off pretty quietly. Went for my walk early, mowed the grass, did more laundry, read the paper, caught up on all my backlogged tv shows. Then Ken asked if I was willing to drive to Kingston to go shopping for underpants for him. So we did, drove around Woodstock, then stopped for dinner before hitting the road home. It's been a full weekend. All I have left to do is go through my mail bucket and maybe sew up a pair of shorts with a small hole. Then bed. I'm so ready for bed already.

And tomorrow it all starts again.....

Passport Fun

I went and applied for my passport today. Ken's been on my case about it for years now. But we may actually have need for passports next year, so it's time to get one. The line at the post office was short, but was slower than shit. When we got there, there was a family of four in the process of applying for theirs. They must have taken a half an hour from when we got there. Next up was a family who was unprepared and ended up leaving without completing the process. Then there was the unfortunate girl who wanted to renew hers. She was a complete DORK. I felt so bad for her. Next up was the family I was in line behind. They're going on a cruise in three weeks and thought this might be a good time to apply for the passport their daughter is going to need to travel. Three weeks. And they failed to understand that their paperwork isn't even going to be looked at by the Department of State for at least a month. The mother was giving the post office clerk shit about it. What the hell could the postal worker do? Nothing. Anyone who doesn't know that the passport processing is easily six months behind doesn't deserve to travel. Plus, these people were just plain ugly and had no control over their two children. They annoyed the shit out of me. Is it wrong for me to secretly hope they can't go on their cruise in three weeks? Oh, and they gave the postal worker shit because she took the daughter's birth certificate to put with the application. Clearly the parents already have their passports. They had to submit their birth certificates when they applied. I have no patience for stupid people.

All in all, we were at the post office for an hour and a half. But the passport has been applied for and in theory, I should have it by Thanksgiving.

Eleven

I'm on day 11 of not drinking soda. I think this may be the longest stretch I've even gone without it. And I'm not losing my mind.

Yet.

7.25.2007

Crappy Day

The day started kind of crappy when Ken and I snapped at each other as we were leaving for work.

Then it got worse when he ended up in the emergency room (again). Carol called from the airport to tell Ken he needs to pick her car up from the airport. There's a spare key at her house. So after work he goes to her house and as he's about to turn into her driveway, some asshole rear ends him. He ended up in the emergency room for a few hours. Looks like it's basically whiplash. He's gonna hurt like a bitch tomorrow, but for now he's asleep on the couch, all hopped up on goofballs. Here's hoping tomorrow is a better day.

Caught In The Act

As I mentioned yesterday, Ollie had a little bit of fun with a roll of paper towels.

Bits and Pieces

* Weigh in today was a good one. I was at 235, the lowest I've charted yet. I'm 5 pounds away from my next goal. I want to be 230 in time for vacation. Also, I was 230 when Ken and I got together 13 years ago (even though I put down 225 in my personal ad.) I just hope I can stay at 235 for my next weigh in. I think I'll be up because I had some pretty shitty eating habits this week. Plus, I've managed to avoid soda for the last 6 days, but that's going to come to an end tomorrow. That's not going to help much. And, I just got home from Cheesecake Factory. Since I've hardly had anything to eat this weekend, I said 'fuck it' and got a piece of the Hot Fudge Sundae Cheesecake. I think there were more calories in that single slice of cake than I've had in the last three days. :-)

* I went clothes shopping yesterday. I need new shorts in the worst kind of way. Sure, I've got plenty, but they're all too big. I picked up three pairs, got them home and tried them on. They were too big. It's the first time I've been clothes shopping in a year. The last time I bought pants or shorts, I bought waist size 44. Yesterday I bought size 40, thinking they would it. Nope. I'm down to a 38 (until the cheesecake settles....) I was so thrilled that I went out bought another pair when I exchanged the bigger ones. And I'm extra thrilled because it's so much easier to find size 38 than it is 40. I'll be able to buy in the regular people store. Pants, at least. I still need tall sizes for shirts.

* At simpsonsmovie.com you can create your own Simpsons version of yourself. Here is mine.

*Idiot me left a roll of paper towels on the floor last night and woke up this morning to it shredded. Ollie loves shredding paper towels and toilet paper. I should be mad at him, but I'm just mad at myself.

* Big Brother starts in 5 minutes. I'll start watching it at 8:30. The dvr is a wonderful thing. I know this won't appear until Tuesday's show, but I'm beyond thrilled at the winner of the POV this week.

*I just read that the Sci-Fi Channel is going to be showing Torchwood starting soon. I've watched the whole first series already, but I'm still kind of excited by this.

* I bought this used off of amazon.com for $1.50. It arrived on Saturday. I'm thrilled.

* This wasn't a very productive weekend, but I feel like I got more done than usual. The weather was amazing, too. I sat out in the back yard for a while with a stack of comics, soaking up the sun and reading. Sunday afternoons are meant for this.

* I've stepped my walking back up a little. The neuroma issue I have in both feet seems to have subsided for now. I don't know if it's the fact that I've lost weight or the weather has been good (bad weather seems to make them act up) or my new shoes are really the right ones for me.... I'm still not back up to walking as much as I was at my peak, but I'm getting there. Also, my carpal tunnel hasn't been bothering me much at all lately. I'm just so damn happy my body isn't giving me anything to bitch and moan about. My wrists seem to be weather sensitive, too, so maybe it is the decent weather that's contributing to the lack of pain?

* I know there were other things I wanted to write about, but I've since forgotten them. They'll come to me tonight just as I'm about to doze off.

Comics In My Future

This week both DC and Marvel announced their lines of books coming out in October. I've gone through the solicitations and have listed out what I'm potentially going to buy. It seems like there's a lot more stuff than usual coming out, so I may have to cut some things due to budgetary concerns, but if I don't have to, here's my full DC & Marvel pull list.
